Good Compositions

This photo represents a good composition in that it exhibits dominance, value, color, and texture.  The wooden head dominates the photo, acting as the focal point while still allowing the eye to lead out.  The black, white, and gray contrasting in the wood is a good example of value, which emphasizes the green color of the grass.  The rough texture of the wood is very apparent here.

This photo makes excellent use of repetition, scale, color, and line.  The color, type, and shape of the corn plants are repeated over and over.  The vivid green of the plants really pops out next to the gray background.  Scale and line are used as the rows create lines leading into the distance, with the closest plants appearing larger than the distant plants.

Color and unity are apparent in this photo.  The green and red colors effectively oppose each other here, making the insects the obvious subject.  The similar coloring of the insects creates unity, leading the eye from one to the other.

Bad Composition

Even though this photograph has excellent color and the focal point is obvious, the subject is "in jail".  The flower in the center of the frame doesn't allow the eye to lead out, it's limited to the flower.
